Visiting Assistant Professor Abdel Isakovic will speak on the topic: Quantum and Biochemical Sensing with a GaAs Diode.
Miniaturisation of large diagnostic tools, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is important for efficient, low cost healthcare diagnostics. We show how a hyperfine interaction could be utilized to detect countably small number of water protons on a chip, using modulation doped GaAs LED.
While designing, characterizing and improving this sensor, we also managed to develop molecular electronics based method of detecting amino acids and other biochemically relevant molecules.
