FREE 1-hour webinar for K-12 Educators
Summary: Communication between spacecraft and scientists on Earth is fundamental to Artemis missions to the Moon. Communicating over large distances involves many considerations that are unique to transmission and reception of signals through deep space. Join us to explore these considerations with hands-on activities that allow students to learn how NASA communicates with astronauts, satellites, rovers, and other spacecrafts. Discover activities that connect relationships among frequency, wavelength, and speed. Learn about signal distortion and find solutions to some of the challenges of deep space communications. These activities are an opportunity to teach computational thinking, core concepts of using waves to transfer information, and ways to develop and use models. Participants will also explore how to make these resources more culturally responsive.
